My name is Ryan Murphy. I see my primary role as empowering clients to be the architect of their own body and life.
Curiosity: My first goal is to help people become more aware of the patterns that guide their posture and movements. When this skill is honed you are able to shape your posture and how you move in your day to day life as well as the gym or studio.
Reflect, Analyze & Plan: I use tools to help assess what a clients needs are, but also to explore what their aspirations are. This is how I begin to define the challenges we will use to transform that client into the person they wish to be and more importantly to help them see they have the power to transform their own life.
Move!: Being reflective and analytical are important stepping stones, but in the end we need to move to see how it all happens in real time. I blend strength training, pilates, yoga and whatever equipment available to push my clients to their limits while having fun at the same time.
Leverage Your Community: Some of the most powerful words I've learned in my career have been "I don't know"...but there's a good chance I know someone who may. I've worked with physios, chiros, acupunturists, naturopaths, RMTs, trainers, yogis, pilates teachers who have all taught me so much and I love to send people to when I realize they can help in a way that I can't.
I have a degree in Kinesiology which has helped me understand the science of human movement: the anatomy that shapes our structure, the physiology that shapes our energy systems, the mechanics of how we use that energy to move our bodies and the psychology that guides the interactions between our mind and body.
As a Personal Trainer I've learned how to use movements, stretches and lifestyle ergonomics to shape the body in any direction you desire. I've learned how to motivate clients to transform their lives. I've developed structures designed to help you set goals, organize your exercises and stretches as well as chart the course and get the data that will show you if its working.
As a Pilates Teacher I've learned that by bringing attention to the patterns that guide our movements, posture & breath we can begin the process of shaping them in the direction we desire. Core has come to mean something deeper than a six pack to me. It's about how we control the centre of our body from which where stability emanates.
